Note from Kay Cofrancesco (Lung Cancer Alliance)

I wanted to remind you of the FOX Thanksgiving Day television special called “Kaleidoscope”. The 90 minute special will feature the historic return to the ice of cancer survivors Scott Hamilton and Dorothy Hamill and a moving number from Olivia Newton-John and David Foster who will perform “Hope is Always Here,” a song written by children involved with Purple Songs Can Fly – a unique project that enables kids with cancer to work with professional composers to write and record their own music.

“I am very excited about being a part of Kaleidoscope and performing this very powerful piece of music written by children faced with cancer,” said Newton-John. “As a cancer survivor and health advocate, this will be a particularly memorable performance for me.”

“It is an incredible honor to take the heartfelt lyrics of amazing and courageous children and turn them into a poignant song with Olivia [Newton-John]. Performing this song with Olivia and the kids was the icing on the cake for a spectacular evening, making Kaleidoscope a truly unforgettable program,” said Foster.

In addition to performances from legendary skaters and cancer survivors Dorothy Hamill and Scott Hamilton, Kaleidscope will also feature Olympic hopefuls Ashley Wagner and Rachael Flatt, the two top ranked women in US figure skating, the top ranked dance team of Meryl Davis and Charlie White, as well as Olympic Champions Kristi Yamaguchi and Viktor Petrenko, two-time Olympic Medalist Nancy Kerrigan and music from American Idol runner-ups David Archuleta and Katharine McPhee.

The show was taped at Verizon Center in Washington D.C. on Monday, November 16th in front of a live audience, many of whom were LCA advocates and lung cancer survivors!  It will air nationally on FOX on November 26, 2009 from 4:00-5:30 p.m. EST, immediately following the FOX Thanksgiving Day football telecast. Check your local listings.

Olivia Newton-John: We Honestly Love You - ParentDish

Olivia Newton-John came to AOL on Thursday November 19, 2009 to chat with ParentDish.

Here is the resulting interview in which Olivia talks about parenting as well as answers questions that were sent in by some of her fans.

A question that was submitted but not asked was:

Please ask Olivia about her amazing portrayal of Bitsy Mae, a character she recently played in the "Sordid Lives" TV series on the Logo Cable station. Playing this role required Olivia to go against type by playing a rough, harsh, character with a criminal past and a less than wholesome background.
What made her decide to take such a ground breaking role? Was it difficult for her to play a character that stands in complete opposition to the roles she had played in the past in such movies as Grease, Xanadu, and A Mom for Christmas? How were her experiences on the set? What kind of reaction did she receive from her fans to her new choice of roles?

Olivia Newton-John at the Melbourne Cup Horse Race 2009

Olivia Newton-John attended the 2009 Melbourne Cup Horse Race on November 4, 2009, where she showed off her husband John Easterling.

[Olivia Newton-John]:
"Accessory? He's not an accessory. He's my other half."

On the track, Australian horse Shocking roared past Ireland's Crime Scene in the closing stages to win the $5 million race.

Olivia Newton-John will join Melbourne's Lord Mayor Robert Doyle and former champions of the turf in the Melbourne Cup Parade through the centre of the city on Monday.
Thousands are expected to line the streets to watch the parade, featuring former cup winners Subzero, Doriemus and Rogan Josh, which makes its way down Swanston Street to Federation square from noon.
The Melbourne Cup carnival kicked off beneath blue skies at Flemington racecourse on Saturday, with a crowd of 108,000 watching Monaco Consul take out the Victoria Derby in 33-degree temperatures.
A cooler and windier day is expected for Tuesday's Melbourne Cup, with Bart Cummings' Viewed the favourite by a small margin to take out the $5.65 million race, closely followed by Alcopop.
Cummings has two other contenders for the trophy, with Viewed stablemates Roman Emperor and Allez Wonder also lining up for the 3200 metre race.
